Reasons to give
Students who have taken part in study abroad can attest to the growth and positive change they have experienced. Students return from these life-changing experiences as global citizens better equipped to excel both academically and professionally. Study abroad scholarships are necessary to meet the needs of these students.
The Office of International Programs must also be able to continue to attract the best international students as an important component of academic excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Every year, the university benefits from millions of dollars paid through international student tuition. Scholarships encourage international students to attend K-State, and in turn, keep domestic tuition rates affordable.
In order to serve future students and continue to attract internationally renowned faculty, we must advance our efforts toward funding development grants and financing international collaborative efforts.
Offices in Beijing and New Delhi, as well as various other affiliations overseas, provide us with unique research opportunities. Faculty members from dozens of countries provide K-State students with new and advanced knowledge. It is our goal to maintain these efforts at reaching out to faculty, both at home and abroad.
A large part of providing study abroad opportunities is cultivating ties with international alumni. The Office of International Programs is working with the K-State Alumni Association to set up alumni chapters overseas that will allow that K-State connection to continue after graduation.
These ties will facilitate networking opportunities that can benefit our alumni both professionally and personally, and give our students ways to work, study and research at universities across the world.
